Mr Thomas's

After breakfast Malcolm drove back to stay with mum and Avril and I caught the train to Manchester. We had a date at Kendalls with Mark but he was away so we had a facial with his stand in then we had lunch at Mr Thomas's which was excellent. I couldn't finish my pudding which was huge. We had a drink to toast Malcolm & Stu who couldn't be with us. Then had some retail therapy before returning home.

Milton Keynes

Monday we went to to Milton Keynes to stay with Linda & Keith. Oliver and Kati came over and we had a very pleasant dinner together. Tuesday morning Linda and I popped into town to get a few things in the sale at M&S then it was up the M1 to see my mum. Mum was not feeling very well so we called the DR out who said she had a bad chest and needed strong antibiotics 4 times a day. Her carers call in twice a day and only administer tablets from her blister pack which caused a dilemma. We were due to go to stay with Avril and Stu then we were all to go to Yorkshire to stay on a farm b&b. Malcolm was a hero and took me to stay at Avrils and he looked after mum.

Denis Severs House

This was an absolutely fantastic day out in London with Pam & Richard. We had a wander round the east end markets and coffee then went to Denis Severs house in Spitalfields. What a treat, the house is just as if the family have popped out and you have called in. There is a real fire burning and real food and drink lying around you creep around the house trying not to make a sound or disturb anything and its quite a shock when you leave and encounter modern life. wWe had lunch at the Water Poet across the rd in Folgate st and very good it was to. Another wander around St Katherines dock and a drink of course and it was time to catch the train home. If you click on the title of this post it will take to you to the web site for the house.

The weather improves

The last couple of the days the weather improved slightly and we managed to do a bit more outdoors. Colin came over and we had a bbq. The children just love the wild life that come into the garden.

Center Parcs

Abigail & Romain arrived with the children and we all went off to Center Parcs. The kids were all poorly and the weather was extremely wet. We were not daunted and carried on regardless.

Summer Holidays

Malcolm and I caught the ferry to the Uk for our summer holiday and had a very nice lunch on the boat. It was wonderful to see Aaron, Anna and Sebastian who had changed so much in a few weeks as babies do.
I had a good night out with the girls at Ocean Beach.

Cherries

Malcolm is very proud that we have our first cherries on the tree. I think they were also the last because the birds get them before we do.

Spiderlily

We all went to the hairdressers for our summer cuts (not Emilie as she is letting hers grow).
Bonita wasn't sure about her new look but we all loved it. Lil also had a new look when she got home but we are not certain if its scary or cute.

Back to school

Monday I had an appointment with a new surgeon at a new hospital re my shoulder. It wasn't good news unfortunately but we have no answers as to what to do about it. I am to have a ct scan when I return from my holidays and he will review things then. Wednesday I helped Abigail sort out her classroom for next year, Lil had a lovely time playing with all the games.

Flohmarket

e

I saw in the paper that there was a flohmarket just over the border in Germany and there was a chance I would get Avril a vinegar barrel there. The weather was glorious and we had a good time looking at all the stalls. I found a silk framed picture of the Duke of Wellington that I am sure would have sold well on eBay and some silver knife rest shaped like hares which Avril would have loved but I couldn't afford either of them. There were no vinegar barrels but I did buy a beautiful basket for my veg.

Happy Holidays

Poor Lili and Frank have both been poorly with tonsillitis this week and it has been so hot, in the mid 30's. Malcolm has been busy in his veg plot battling against the slugs. He saw a coypu padding down the stream at the bottom of Abigail s garden it gave him quite a turn. Saturday night we had a girls night out dinner at a lovely restaurant in Senningerberg.
