Callistemon Laevis

Callistemon Laevis or Australian Bottle Brush tree is what I have chosen to replace the Christmas tree. The annuals had almost furnished so I bought a few stragglers to put around the tree. I am sure with a bit of miracle grow they will soon perk up.The new flowers around the Cherry tree are looking very pretty. Mum arrived in the afternoon for a few days.

The Grand Dukes Birthday

Today is the Grand Dukes Birthday. I cant believe its a year since Liam and Nicholas were here how time flies. Although the weather was hot and sunny during the day it changed suddenly around 6pm and we had a massive thunderstorm. The same weather as last year. We didn't go to the city as we were tired. The Christmas tree we had in a pot was not looking very well so we planted it in the garden and it was quite a job.

Wedding Anniversary

Our Wedding Anniversary 38 years . I looked up on the net and the gift should be Beryl but we agreed we didn't really like it so gave it a miss. We then decided to try a new Indian restaurant that has just opened in the village but sign of old age this, we didn't feel like it come 8pm. Time does go faster the older you are. I am sure there must be a theory to prove it somewhere...............

Fathers Day what else but a bbq. Luckily the day was fine. Malcolm did his usual wonders with the food and everyone had a good time. Poor Romain had to go home early as he was feeling poorly. Emilie has at last lost her wobbly tooth and Lilie has gained her first one.

A little op

Last summer Emilie was unfortunately bitten by a dog. A small lump was left on her lip which was best removed. So she spent the day at the hospital on Friday having a little op. She wore her Lee/Joseph tee shirt for reassurance.

History lessons

We took David to the Battle of the Bulge Museum where we met a coach load of Americans unfortunately they were of the rude Rome variety. May be with the dollar/euro problem the nice ones stay at home. Then on to Vianden he was very brave and took the chair lift to the cafe for beer and chips. We had dinner here cooked by me. Thursday we did some shopping and had a visit to Clemency where David played Joseph songs on the piano while Emilie sang.

Davids first visit to the Grand Duchy

At last we were able to welcome David for his first visit to the Grand Duchy. Malcolm cooked a wonderful dinner on the Monday evening. Tuesday was very hot day around 33c but we managed a walk around the Grund and lunch at the art gallery, followed by a city tour, unfortunately for David we didn't see the Grand Duke.We paid our respects to General Patton and his men.
Dinner was at the Beerhause were we sat in the garden and enjoyed the cooler air and the beer of course.
