New House

Sunday Amelia and Rhian came to visit and we all went to Clemency to see how the new house was coming along not very fast was the answer. Amelia and Rhian went all the way to the loft but as there are no stairs yet I only went up to the first floor. We were going to have a drink at the cafe but it was closed. I planted up some summer pots for the garden to give a bit of colour. The weather has been quite warm and sunny. Spring is on the way

Bastogne

Tuesday we went to town to buy a new purse and a bag it has a double zip so hopefuly there will be no repeat performance. Thursday was sunny and Malcolm has longed to go to the Bastogne scince watching Band of Brothers. The museum was very moving as they showed a film of the actual action that took place there.. There is a huge monument to those Americans who lost their lives but we found the little monument at Foy to be more personal it looks quite new as the plants have not yet grown. The woods behind and the village must have looked very similar to how they look now. Grandad Sam went into his nursing home but after only a few houres he fell and broke his hip. He is now back in the Queensway hospital.

What No BRAKES?

Malcolm drove the car very carefuly to the Honda garage. By the time he got there the whistling had turned to grinding. The bill was only 1,335 euros not bad if you say it very fast, for brakes, pads, calipers and other related things. We had to stay at Abigail's for the week as it took untill Friday to repair. Emilie had a mini holiday with her class at a farm in the north of Luxembourg where she saw lots of animals and learnt all about bees and honey. Malcolm powerwashed the back garden so that the children could play out as the weather is very pleasant. Frankie was still poorly with a chest infection and by Thursday Abigail had caught the bug and couldn't talk but it was the end of term and she strugled in to school for the last morning. We made it back to our appartment feeling that we had been away for weeks.
